I was backing up into a pillar thinking car will most definitely stop by itself, well it did not. I do have activation points setup, but what does that have to do with side collision warning ? You're seeing a car in the panorama view coming at you from either side and your side collision starts beeping? It doesn't work like that for me either, because my car is never sticking out that much into the ongoing traffic, anyways.no idea.Īs far as that auto breaking is concerned, I tried testing this a while back, i actually wanted to show my wife how "intelligent" the car was. I am guessing you're referring to GPS activated panorama view? Yeah, that comes on for me too. No idea what you mean bout panoramic camera switching on automatically in your blind spots and how that relates to collision warning. Of course, someone can make the same argument you did, when you're are really at risk, multiple factors have to occur, stars have to align properly and so on and so forth and then it will work flawlessly and save your life. It didn't turn on when I was about get t-boned tho. Side collision however turned on once with zero traffic on my sides.
I can pretty much make the front collision warning go off, just keep my pace, no breaking when a car in front of me stops abruptly and front collision will go off. I am pretty sure I understand it perfectly fine.įront collision engages time to time, side collision engaged once. You'll only know this if the conditions are met and you are actually at risk. It will warn you depending on the speed at which you are traveling and other factors. On other instances, car will intervene if the car is at risk of collision. When that's on screen, it warns without fail every single time. I have set my panoramic camera to come automatically in my regular blind spots. Not sure you understand how the side collision system works. Gotta give credit for the autonomous driving though (or whatever its called in BMW lingo). That includes the BS side collision warning, auto parking that takes forever to find a spot, emergency breaking, etc. Slightly off topic but, its embarrassing that BMW makes these "systems" available to purchase and they work maybe, and that's a BIG maybe 20% as advertised. It was completely random, out of nowhere, I was fully alert. In a year and a half of driving G30 i have seen it pop once.
The system never triggered once while I fully expected it to. I was driving at 3am last week feeling very drowsy and tired after a long day and had to stop for a coffee and wake up a little. I ask because I don't think it's very reliable. As the title on this thread states How does attention assist work?
